The Greater Waldorf Jaycees were founded in 1969 with a mission of providing leadership through community service.  Today, the chapter is compromised of 230 young leaders between the ages of 21 to 40 that continue to work successfully to make Charles County a better place to live for everyone in our community.  We adopted a focus in the areas of "Aid to the Elderly", "Aid to the Developmentally Disabled", "Crime Prevention", and "Community and Youth Assistance" that has served us and this community exceptionally well for over three decades.

Through several multi-year, multi-million dollar projects, the Greater Waldorf Jaycees have literally provided some of the finest facilities and programs in Maryland, the Nation, and the World.  We have adopted a philosophy that eliminates the normal excuses for not getting things done.  In order to achieve goals that have a real impact on solving problems in our community, we view time, money, and availability of expertise, as merely obstacles to be overcome.

Jaycee chapters throughout the United States and the world annually submit projects for evaluation by peers to determine the "Best of the Best".  During the past 35 years, Waldorf has been named the number on chapter is the State of Maryland 19 times.  Competing against chapters of similar size at the national level we have been selected 12 times.  In national competition against all Jaycee chapters we were named the #1 chapter in the United States twice, and in those same years were selected the number one chapter in the World.  Subsequent to those selections we were invited to the White House by President Jimmy Carter to receive his thanks for our community involvement.  In addition to the above overall programming awards, the Greater Waldorf Jaycees have received over 2,000 single project awards at the State, National, and International levels.  The development of the Jaycee Senior Citizens Apartments was selected as the single best project in the United States and the World in 1980.  We are recognized throughout the Nation as one of the strongest chapters in the Jaycee organization with a track record of sustained superior performance, unmatched nationally or worldwide.
